Just tried last version and I noticed huge improvements on flight model too! Good job Cowan team, keep on developing this fantastic Jet Ranger!
Couple of notes:
1) I still notice, comparing to Asobo 407 and many other Asobo and not-Asobo aircraft, that this fantastic 206 is much heavier and generates (on my system of course) a visible loss of fps on scenery around and rest. Same when I flight together with friends having the same 206. I tried with Community empty and it's the same.
Any point in the list to make it litte less fps hungry?
2) Flight model, above 90-100kts seems getting quite instable on roll and pitch. In particular decreasing/increasing the pitch generates consisten roll and elev momentum. I'm pretty sure it will be solved, making this B206 better and better.
What else: a big thank you Cowan for this fantastic 206 and looking fwd for next update!
G1159B
Any luck on the search light being operational?
DenisFerrari
Fantastic product and hely, congrats!
Just noticed couple of things while flying with a frined (comparing to Asobo 407)
1) Hely seems muc more heavier, in terms of fps, than when flying with 407, in particular as soon as another 206B is close or in the area, this clearly making scenario and things quite laggy and sensible fps loss. Doing the same, same area, same settings with Asobo 407, no fps or lags at all. Maybe rotor effect 407 does not show when close to other same hely's? If so, any change to gain fps having the chance to someway enable/disable the rotor effect seen from ouside?
2) When flying on a server with a friend, jet engine start up sound's continously heard...not clear the reason, low volume as coming from other friend flying the same hely. This seems not happening when flying alone, or without same hley's around...
Thanks and congrats for this fantastic Jet Ranger, always getting better and better and improving! Keep on going!

Thank you!! I think both of those issue are related to multiplayer. We will be working to optimize for multiplayer. We still have not figured out the start sound issue but will be changing the way it is triggered to eliminate that as well. 😊

Very good, I look fwd for that and thanks for the reply!

Hello,
It's strange, Bell 206 from Flyinside did Throttle with Idle switch position working ...
Why aren't you able to do the same with your Bell 206 ?
But I appreciate your creation, Hope you great new project !
Bravo, very good !
Cowan Simulation 8 day(s) ago
That is because we are only using the flight model tools available from the Asobo SDK. The governor for piston engines works correctly but the governor for turbine engines has a bug. It will not shut off. Once that is fixed then we will be good. 😊

I have a small question: Is it possible to turn off the new downwash effect? The effect is really pretty but it costs a lot of fps.
Best regards 😊
Cowan Simulation 8 day(s) ago
The effect is in the 206B3_EXT.xml file located in “SimObjects>Airplanes>Helicopter_206B3>model” and can be removed by removing lines 36-45.
Right now there is not an easier way to turn the effect off. I reluctanlty added the effect since it was requested but aware of fps loss when collective is pulled and 0-9 feet from ground. I think we will look for a way to make it optional.
rkuruzar 7 day(s) ago
Thank you! I have been trying to find that file. It is a gorgeous effect, but I need just a little more juice to use it. It's easy enough to remove the file and I'm glad its available for when I upgrade.

Hopefully this means the 222B and 500E will be coming over also?
Cowan Simulation 15 day(s) ago
That is correct. 😊

This is def. on my radar when I get into Heli's. I can see the time and love that went into this. Great Work!

Thank you!!!

Is it possible to remove the headset hanging from the left hand hook?
No offense, but I don't think it looks good. It blocks the view and doesn't look real since it is completely static. All my Bell 206 time was wearing a helmet anyway!
Just purchased the CowanSim H125 for XP12 earlier this week and really like it! 😊
Cowan Simulation 21 day(s) ago
I will have an update out soon to fix this. You will be able to click on the headset to remove it and they are animated now too. So they will move when flying. The copilot was changed too since the other guy was a tad small and not great looking. Right now you can go to the weight and balance menu to add the pilot and then the headset will be removed and placed on him. With the new version both headsets will be there and you can click to remove each or add the copilot the same way. I should have though about this beforehand but everyone's great suggestions are what give me a road map to make things better. 😊 Enjoy!! 😊
h3pilot 20 day(s) ago
Thank you for the quick reply.
Being able to click on the headsets to toggle them on and off sounds great!
BTW, I'm also looking forward to buying your H125 for MSFS when it comes out!

Is it needed to run an external program before startung the sim in order to use this model? I do not like that way, thats why i ask.
Will this model be available in the marketplace?
Cowan Simulation 21 day(s) ago
No you do not need and external program. This one uses the new native support for helicopters. Microsoft has it and they will release on the Marketplace soon.
GaryX1001 21 day(s) ago
Thanks for the answer, so i will go to support you now and buy it and hope to get help & support here if there are problems 😉
Cowan Simulation 21 day(s) ago
Thank you!! I will continue to work and better this helicopter. 😊
GaryX1001 20 day(s) ago
I have not flown much but i can say that it feels much better compared to the Asobo Bell 207. I have to mod now my Thrustmaster Hotas to get some precission back. Well done!
Hope you do some more helis, as it feels you know what you are doing!
GaryX1001 10 day(s) ago
Installed the latest update from today, 17. January, v1.02, ground effect is nice, clickable headsets nice. Did you change the flight model? it feels totally different to the first release version. There is only barly rudder needed now when the first initial release needed lots of rudder input to make the heli stable.
FSimmer
Although pricey, I'm looking forward to this B206 but expecting to be better in functionality and flight model behaviour better than the one from Dodosim (FSX).
Whishing you great success.

Same thoughts xD
SlowPoke
I LOVE this 206!! It can feel a little under powered at times, but as a former real life Helicopter pilot, that feeling is something we have to manage in a LOT of situations. This 206, although under powered, is actually a VERY fun and interesting ship to fly for specifically the reason that it requires very careful power management to fly well. The sound is amazing!!!
Cowan Simulation 23 day(s) ago
Glad you're enjoying it! Thank you for the feedback!
LCMoore
HPG Airbus H135 is free and has a rudimentary autopilot, beautiful graphics, and flies quite well with controllers. It is hard to justify $32 for a similar product that's w/o autopilot and has not been debugged.
rkuruzar 24 day(s) ago
Its cheaper than the H 145.
hoverlover513 24 day(s) ago
Unlike the HPG aircraft, the Cowan 206B actually flies like a real helicopter. Its worth every penny.
GApilot99 24 day(s) ago
Except this does not feel like the Bell 206 I flew irl. There is work to be done. Will need to get the Flyinside version and compare.
Cowan Simulation 23 day(s) ago
Several months of work and continued free updates does not justify an income? I make sure I stay on top of my products and live in my office. The constructive feedback is used to our advantage. Any issues will be fixed in time. Thanks for the feedback.
WHYIFLY 22 day(s) ago
I flew the Dodosim Bell 206 (for FSX) and i think it was a masterpiece. All other helicopters may looked nice but had poor unrealistic flightdynamics even when the developer said "realistic flightdynamics". As a fan of "as real as it gets" when it comes to flightdynamics (also fan of A2A Simulations 😉 ) my question is how far or close are the flightdynamics to real world B206 or the Dodo 206? Would i be disappointed with this one if i compare it to the Dodo Bell206?
Best regards from austria!
Cowan Simulation 21 day(s) ago
It's hard to compare this one to something that was released over a decade ago in a completely different simulator. Native support for helicopters is in its infancy for MSFS2020. People still compare though, and my X-Plane version has been compared to dodo sim frequently. Most pilots have good reviews of it, and just like with MSFS, mostly good so far. I will continue to develop it and release updates. When new features and sim variables become available then they will also be added to make things better. But in the end you can take 100 pilots of the 206, have them test it and get 100 different answers. From good to bad. That will never change.
Cowan Simulation 21 day(s) ago
Thanks!!
Mongoman900 11 day(s) ago
? The DodoSim 206 was awful... Idk what you are talking about. Flew nothing like a real 206b in any way. The aircraft that flies the most like a rl helicopter right now in this game is the Freeware R44 period.
