This is the Milviz T-38 Talon for FSX, converted to native GLTF format for use with MSFS and distributed as freeware with permission from Milviz/Blackbird. This aircraft DOES work in VR

Key Features:

Belly cargo pod can be made visible using the payload weight in the payload menu. When enabled, it can be seen by other players
Air show smoke is tied to the Logo Lights, but must be enabled in the payload menu to work
Canopies can be opened when on the ground using the Taxi Lights keybind

The cockpit gauges are partly functional but nothing in the cockpit is clickable. Milviz made this a condition of releasing it. For better flight data I recommend the Shift Z stats mod.

The flight model is custom and should generally fit a T-38 flight profile, but it is by no means fully accurate. Engine performance and fuel burn are not correct.

A number of liveries are included from the base pack, and more will be added in the future.

I welcome improvements by others, especially texture updates, normal maps, and gauge code. If you find something that is incorrect please let me know.

Thank you for this. I flew the real airplane in undergraduate pilot training in 1969 and it was a favorite in FSX. I understand that Milviz released this with the stipulation that nothing in the cockpit is clickable, but I do not see why they rendered the vertical velocity indicator inop. A VVI is an essential part of a basic instrument crosscheck. It so happened that I downloaded your F-86 at the same time as the T-38, and Milviz elected to release that aircraft with an operative VVI and just about every other engine instrument. If the opportunity presents itself, perhaps you could ask Milviz to reconsider?

None of the gauges work for me. Unless this is fixed, I will have to remove it from my inventory. 😞

I took the T-38 for a spin. I appreciate that it's free, but it is... not good. The aircraft just wobbles around its CG and flies... fine. I guess. Basic instruments don't work. I don't expect clickable cockpit, but I need a VSI. Again, I appreciate the effort, but I removed the plane from my library.

Brilliant jet with a very detailed cockpit but can you please make the switches in the cockpit interactable or at least the necessary ones for starting and shutting down the jet

Great addition to my hangar, enjoying it! Engine sounds remind me of FS9 Lear 45 "Hoover vacuum" sounds, wish I could change . But hey, this is free and no complaining here.

Was very fun to fly. Would highly recommend. Only thing I didn't like was the lack of forward visibility in the rear seat due to the window having what looks like a mirror film. Other than that, this plane is a must have.
Bugs: I noticed that the flaps gauge is inoperative, didn't know if that was done on purpose. In first person mode, the NWS input seems to get sort of "stuck" frequently and causes the plane to do doughnuts on the runway/taxiway. In third person, NWS functions fine.

Awesome! Thank you! With over 1500 hours in the real thing, the Milviz T-38 was my favorite model in FSX. I look forward to updates for the MSFS conversion.

I have an issue where i set max thrust on takeoff and it sets it to idle upon takeoff, by force

Could you please do a Lockheed P-2 Neptune next! If you are able to that would be greatly appreciated as I have always wanted one in the sim but im not sure if it will get added . I believe this would make for an interesting aircraft to have in the sim as well. Thank you for reading!

Did you use the payload menu to add the corresponding weight? Is your system set to use pounds instead of kilograms? Do you have any hardware controls for your aircraft lights like a switch panel or toggle button on your joystick?

its a conversion. and its free. it flys well. by all means make a clickable cockpit. we will wait. the people that cry about freeware that works. milviz contracted this out to the airforce, so if you read, part of the agreement to release to us was to not release it with a clickable cockpit.

Milviz didn't do anything on these except give permission. The behind the scenes coding for the gauges is different, so the F-86 gauges mostly worked straight away while in the T-38 NO gauges worked at all. I was able to reverse engineer the code for some to get them working but not all. I may be able to figure out the VSI code at some point but not yet

As Milviz did not allow a clickable cockpit, they may have lost potential chance to advertise how good even their donated products are! I will not download this, as this will only take up diskspace with a useless and fictional plane, sorry.

I am not able to see afterburners? any reason or a fix for this?

Not a known issue, but sometimes my game refuses to load the effect for some reason. It is the default afterburner effect so it's possible another mod is interfering
