Avianca Brasil, formerly known as OceanAir, was a Brazilian airline that operated from 2002 until it filed for bankruptcy in 2018. It was a subsidiary of the Colombian airline Avianca Holdings. Avianca Brasil was known for its domestic and international flights within South America, primarily from its hubs in São Paulo, Brasília, and Salvador.
The airline faced financial difficulties and went through a turbulent period, ultimately leading to its bankruptcy and cessation of operations. In 2019, it officially lost its air operator's certificate, marking the end of its operations.
Avianca Brasil was a member of the Star Alliance, a global airline alliance that includes carriers such as United Airlines, Lufthansa, and Singapore Airlines. The airline's fleet mainly consisted of Airbus aircraft, including A318s, A319s, and A320s.
It's worth noting that as of my last knowledge update in September 2021, there might have been further developments in Avianca Brasil's situation. Please verify with current sources for any updates or changes that may have occurred after that date.
