Located in northeastern Poland, about 68 NM (125 km) north of Warsaw, DOL Wielbark is a military airstrip built on a section of Route 604 between the villages of Rustowo and Przeździęk Wielki. DOL stands for Drogowy Odcinek Lotniskowy, or Road Airport Section. Essentially it is a stretch of highway that has been prepared for use as an airbase during times of crisis.
Originally constructed during the Warsaw Pact era, this DOL sat dormant for many years, until it was completely repaved and substantially expanded from 2020 to 2021. The first exercise on the improved facility was held September 25 - 29, 2023, when various aircraft of the Polish Air Force practiced landing and taking off at the DOL. Aircraft types involved included the F-16 Fighting Falcon, MiG-29 Fulcrum, Su-22 Fitter, C-130 Hercules, C-295M, and M-346 Master. This was the first exercise of its type held in Poland for over two decades.
To see all scenery objects, people, and ground vehicles, the following libraries are required:
Animated Humans 3D Models Library
If you own the Deimos MiG-29 Fulcrum and its livery pack, and/or the IndiaFoxtEcho M-346 Master, then you will also have some static aircraft present on the DOL. If you do not own these addons, this scenery is still fully functional, just without the static aircraft.
The assigned ICAO code, EPWB, is fictitious.
