Royal Navy Air Station Portland was established in 1917 for seaplanes flying coastal patrols. It was disused from about 1919 until 1946, apoart from a short period at the end of 1939 into early 1940. In 1946 it became a base for helicopter trials and, in the next few years, became a major base training aircrew in anti submarine warfare.
The base closed in 1999.
I have rebuilt the airfield for FSEconomy and have used a bit of artistic licence to extend the runway length beyond anything it ever was!

Fun! and almost in sight out my windows. As noted though it's still an active heliport ( flight training for Sea Kings goes on there ) so is there any chance of a version with a correct runway? either the RN one or the current one. I'd really like to have a go at getting a few fixed wing a/c in & out with the real length...

I am pleased someone else as added Osprey Quay to the simulator, after I had to take my version down 😞

Absolutely brilliant that you have done it, but could you do it with standard Runway please

As I stated in the text, I built this airfield for FSEconomy. This means that it has to be suitable for fixed wing as well as rotary aircraft, hence the runway length and apron markings. I had no intention of keeping it true to life. If you would like a version that more closely depicts EGDP as it is today then a search on the internet should take you to another add-on site with a download that looks to be what you require.

It's still a heliport so my 135 and 145 are grateful. Cheers.
